Beauty Salon Secrets is the brain child of Mackenzie Crockett. It is the fruit of her desire to write a book that explains all the necessities and nuances of opening a beauty salon, spa or barber shop. Mackenzie's roots began more than twenty-five years ago as a hair stylist for family and friends. She is a graduate of Wilfred Academy, a licensed cosmetologist in the state of New Jersey for twenty years and also licensed in the state of Virginia.

Mackenzie has salon experience in several areas. Having worked in a casino salon, independently owned salons, chain salons, and a barber shop, she has held three managerial positions. The previous owner of three salons one being home-based, Mackenzie has more than twenty years experience in the Beauty Salon industry. Retired now, she is a consultant for start-up Hair Salons. Much of her time is spent developing information products to help others in the industry. Her first salon was "Hair Designs" for ten years, "Miss Meashah's Hair Studio", and "A Virtuous Woman Salon". She continues to serve as a model for others.
